Hello, I’m Laetitia, and I’m reaching out to share the story of my dear friend Jane, who is a remarkable woman who has faced great challenges with unwavering strength and positivity.
I’m starting this fundraiser to help Jane live her last days with joy, comfort, and hope as she continues her brave battle with Stage 4 colon cancer.
In 2022, at 32yrs old Jane received s diagnosis of Stage 4 colon cancer that had metastasised to her lungs and liver while living in London, her home for over a decade. As a beloved high school teacher and year coordinator, she left behind a tight-knit community of friends who were like family to begin urgent treatment in Sydney. Since then, Jane has faced a gruelling journey, enduring numerous invasive procedures and three years of chemotherapy, including:
Colonoscopies
Endoscopies
Laparoscopies
Portacath insertion
Laparotomies
Stoma insertion
Portal vein embolisation of the liver
Liver resection
Removal of both ovaries
Peritonectomy with HIPEC
Lung ablation
Earlier this year, Jane joined a clinical trial targeting the KRAS G12D mutation, holding onto hope for a breakthrough. Sadly, the trial didn’t yield the results we prayed for, and the cancer continued to progress. Now, Jane is starting Lonsurf as a last-resort treatment while awaiting news of another clinical trial that could be a fit for her.
Despite the chronic pain, breathing difficulties, and persistent cough caused by cancer in her lungs and body, Jane remains a beacon of light. Even while relying on strong opioid pain relief, her bubbly spirit, infectious positivity, and hope for a miracle continue to inspire everyone around her.
Jane’s strength is nothing short of extraordinary, but the past three years without work have brought financial challenges. I want to ease her burdens and give her the chance to make precious memories without worrying about costs.
