You never think it will be you or the person you love — until it is.

This was very difficult for me to put this out there because I know not everyone has good intentions and there is bad energy everywhere you go, but I’m a firm believer in God and I know that this isn’t the end, this is just an obstacle that my strong soldier will overcome. Our lives changed in an instant when my boyfriend Jandrew Gonzalez was diagnosed with Stage 2 Testicular Cancer. Hearing those words is something no one is ever prepared for, and everything since then has felt overwhelming, fast, and frightening. In less than a week, he will begin chemotherapy — a treatment we are hopeful for, but one that comes with so many emotional and financial challenges.

While we are grateful he is able to receive treatment, we are responsible for 30% of the medical bills, which has already placed a heavy burden on us. On top of that, we are racing against time to afford sperm preservation before chemotherapy begins.

Chemotherapy is known to greatly reduce and sometimes permanently take away the chance of having children. Preserving his sperm before treatment starts is our only opportunity to protect the future we once talked about so freely — a future that includes family, hope, and life beyond cancer. Unfortunately, sperm banking is not covered by insurance, and the cost must be paid upfront before treatment can begin.

Right now, every dollar raised will go toward:

• Our portion of his cancer treatment costs

• Sperm preservation, so we still have a chance to build a family one day though I know God is in our favor always!

This all happened so quickly, we spent our holidays and New years in and out of the hospital, but we are doing everything we can to stay strong, though it is difficult to do this alone. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean more to us than words can express. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would help just as much.
