Hi, my name is Hillary, and I’m raising money for my dear friend Jana and her husband Shawn, who are facing an incredibly tough battle with cancer.

In January 2025, Shawn went in to have what they thought would be a very small cancerous spot removed from his scalp. It ended up being much larger than the doctors originally planned, but they still felt like they were able to remove it all. At a follow-up appointment in April 2025, they found several more concerning spots. After taking six different biopsies in various locations, it was determined that Shawn had metastatic melanoma and needed to start treatment immediately.

These treatments are very expensive and have made it so Shawn is unable to work the way he is used to, leaving a lot of pressure on his wife, Jana, to try to support their family. Just recently, Shawn’s liver has been failing, causing a pause in treatment as doctors are trying to heal his liver and get his body healthy enough to resume treatments. Shawn’s doctors have said that they will need to do treatment for at least two years with scans every three months to follow up and make sure they are on the right course.

Jana and Shawn are the kind of people who give so much to others. They’re die-hard football fans, loving parents to four wonderful kids, and have a house full of furry, four-legged family members that bring them joy. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.

My hope is to help lift some of the financial burden so they can focus on what truly matters — Shawn’s recovery and time together as a family.
