I have set up this fundraiser because Jamuna’s recent visa application to be sponsored to remain in Australia was refused. She has been given 35 days to leave the country with no option to stay, other than going to tribunal court which is very costly and has to be applied and paid for within 21 days.
A short back story:
Jamuna and I first came to Australia for the first time approximately 7 years ago, planning to migrate with my step dad (who is Australian), mother and brother who have now been granted permenant residency. Upon arrival my family was given incorrect visa instructions and bad advice by a government visa agent to remove me from the application because I arrived a few months later and apply for mine separately (this meant that their application would be granted quicker and the agent case closed). Because of this my visa application has been denied multiple times.
I have now paid $30,000 to the government over time for repeated visa funds, tribunal funds and agent funds, all of which have been unsuccessful for no logical reason.
Our plan was for my residency to be granted and for Jamuna to apply for a partner visa, however we have been unable to do this due to my visa delay and continuous refusal. I have received advice and counsel from various visa agents who are also baffled at the outcome.
During this period Jamuna has paid a total of $10,000 in visa funds also and we are now running out of options. We are both trying to fight our individual cases once again, but are now struggling to put the funds together to pay for this and for agents to represent us in court.
We have come to a point where we have no choice but to turn to our community for help.
