Help Jamo Ride Waves at Surfing for Autism Event

Hi everyone,

My name is Rachel, and I’m reaching out to share an exciting opportunity for my son, Jamo. Last week, we received incredible news - Jamo was selected in a lottery to participate in this year’s Surfing for Autism event in Nags Head!

Jamo is a soon-to-be 13 year old neurodivergent kid with a passion for legos, video games, his stuffies, swimming, and visiting the aquarium. Like many children his age, navigating the challenges of middle school hasn’t been easy for him, but he’s looking forward to the upcoming summer break.

I’m hoping to surprise Jamo with a four-day epic adventure for his birthday, just weeks away. Surfing for Autism is an organization dedicated to created sensory-friendly and supported environments for autistic individuals to enjoy beach activities. This event offers Jamo a private aquarium experience, a day of surf lessons, and the chance to connect with the autistic community, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

While there’s no cost for Jamo to participate in the events, covering the expenses for accommodations, meals, and travel is beyond my means as a teacher. I envision this experience as a chance for our family to bond, support Jamo, and connect with other neurodivergent individuals.

Jamo truly deserves this empowering experience, and any contribution, big or small, would mean the world to us. However, so completely understand if you’re unable to assist financially during these challenging times.
