Help Jamila Find Stability During Her Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
Dear friends and kind strangers,
I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Jamila, a brave and incredibly strong young woman who is facing an overwhelming series of challenges. Jamila has been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, at the age of 22. She has endured countless hospital stays and medical procedures, and she now faces months of intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
On top of her health struggles, Jamila is navigating significant personal challenges that have left her without the stability and support she needs during this critical time. Currently, the hospital has arranged temporary hotel accommodations for her through the end of the year, but as of January, she will have nowhere to stay.
We are hoping to raise funds to provide Jamila with safe and stable housing throughout her treatment, along with covering basic living expenses such as food, transportation to medical appointments, and other necessities. These funds will allow her to focus entirely on her health and recovery without the added stress of financial uncertainty.
Jamila is a strong and faithful person who has always cared deeply for others. Before her diagnosis, most of her time was spent in her neighbourhood, working alongside families and youth to contribute to the process of community-building underway there. Now, she needs our help. No contribution is too small, and even if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign will mean the world to her and to the many, many people who know and love her.
Thank you for reading and for your compassion. Together, we can ensure Jamila has the stability she needs to heal and overcome this incredibly difficult time.
I’ve included two photos below that I think encapsulate our beloved Jamila: a person who smiles in the face of adversity and is always striving to bring joy and comfort to those around her—a sincere example of radiant acquiescence.
With gratitude,
Maryam + friends
