Help Jamie's Mom Stay in Vancouver Post-Op

Donation protected
On August 5th, Jamie had his second liver transplant at Vancouver General Hospital. His initial surgery was 19 hours, where he received over 100 blood transfusions. Since then, Jamie has had two more surgeries, received a tracheostomy, remains on life support, and is anticipated to be in the hospital for months.

Jamie's only support person in Vancouver is his mother, Kathy, who travelled with him from their home in Victoria. Kathy has been at Jamie's side every day—holding his hand, talking to him, and ensuring he receives the best care possible. Due to the unforeseen complications from Jamie's surgery, Kathy is committed to staying in Vancouver for as long as possible to love and support her son.

Kathy is 71 and lives on a limited pension income. Due to being from Victoria, the Ministry only covers 30 days of accommodation for those receiving medical care—not including food, transportation, or other living costs. Now that her 30 days are up, Kathy is forced to make an impossible decision: return home and risk losing her son while she is miles away, or find a way to stay in Vancouver.

As Kathy says, "Jamie has had a long and difficult journey but he has never stopped fighting to live. It is very difficult to ask for help but I know Jamie is well known and loved. I hope people will help me to be with him during this very difficult time."

Jamie needs his Mom to survive this. Please consider making a donation so that Jamie and Kathy can stay together.

Thank you!
