Help Jamie Toro Fight Metastatic Carcinoma
Donation protected
As many of you may know, my best friend Jamie Toro has had a long battle with a multitude of medical issues in years past. We've had a few mild years recently and now Jamie is facing one of her biggest challenges yet. Jamie had a large tumor and her right kidney removed in January. The biopsy came back as stage 3, grade 4, clear cell, malignant, metastatic carcinoma. UCSF asked her to participate in an immunotherapy drug trial that incorporates a cancer vaccine trial. This is the 3rd trial for this promising study that takes specifically her tumor's mRNA and introduces back into her body as a vaccine. In hopes that this will allow her body to recognize free floating CCC cells and destroy them before they can metastatisize. For the cancer community this is huge. For my BFF this is scary as hell. We will be driving to UCSF for her treatments every 3 weeks for the next 4 months and then every 6 weeks for the remainder of a year. Mentally and physically we've got this. Financially, we could use some help. Trial reimbursement is very limited. Any little bit will help with the cost of travel and additonal healthcare expenses. Jamie is in great spirits, she has an amazing healthcare team and we are ready to fight this thing head on. Thank you in advance for your caring and consideration.
