Help Save Kanga – A Miracle Pup Fighting for Her Life

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to ask for help on behalf of my uncle Jamie, one of the kindest and most selfless people I know. He’s a passionate and experienced Rhodesian Ridgeback breeder who has always treated his dogs like family. A few weeks ago, his beloved dog Kanga faced a life-threatening emergency — and she’s truly lucky to be alive today.

It all started when Kanga had a run-in with a porcupine. She was rushed to the vet to have the quills removed, and the initial bill came to $2,000. Unfortunately, what seemed like a painful but manageable situation quickly turned into something far more serious.

Soon after, Kanga became unable to walk and began struggling to breathe. Jamie immediately knew something was wrong and brought her back to the vet. That quick action saved her life — the emergency vet later said Kanga had just 40 seconds to live when she arrived.

It was discovered that one of the quills had migrated deep into her body and punctured her pulmonary artery — a critical vessel leading from the heart to the lungs. She was rushed to a specialized emergency veterinary hospital, where she’s been for the past three days, receiving intensive care, emergency surgery, and constant monitoring.

Thanks to Jamie’s instincts and the incredible veterinary team, Kanga is now recovering — but the cost of her care has reached $15,000 and counting. Jamie has given so much of his life to raising and caring for these amazing dogs, and now he needs support.
