On December 5th, Jamie’s life changed in an instant. Riding as a passenger going down Highway 14, the car was hit head-on by a tandem dump truck. It rolled 6-7 times, ejecting him through the windshield. The injuries were brutal: broken arm, broken leg, dislocated shoulder, cracked ribs, surgically repaired bladder, undetermined spinal damage—and the worst, diffuse axonal injury (DAI), where the crash tore nerves inside his skull from his brain.Doctors gave him a tracheotomy and feeding tube. The prognosis then was bleak. He fought through a 3-week coma. Last month, he woke up—eyes full of wonder and life, whispering tiny words. Truely a miracle. Today, the trach is out. He’s breathing on his own, hears us, understands, answers yes/no, speaks short sentences. He kicks his legs and raises one arm. He can't lift his head or body yet but Jamie’s a fighter—he survived for a reason. But he needs intensive rehab now to rewire those nerves and reclaim his life.Why Your Help Matters
