I’m starting this GoFundMe for my girlfriend, Jamie Fenner. Jamie was paralyzed in a car accident in August of 2019, leaving her a T4/T5 paraplegic (paralyzed from the sternum down).
Jamie is hugely independent at heart, and has made tremendous strides in her recovery, but lack of medical care in our area has limited her physical and emotional recovery from her accident. Her limited financial resources are largely consumed by travel expenses to seek medical care elsewhere
More importantly, she lacks connections with peers who have spinal cord injuries, and the unique support and friendship that only they can give her.
This summer, the Rollettes, an all-women’s wheelchair dance team, are hosting an empowerment event called the Rollettes Experience in July in Los Angeles. Jamie has wanted to attend this event since she first learned of it two years ago. Hundreds of women who use wheelchairs will be at the event, which features a variety of panels, classes and social gatherings where women in wheelchairs can support one another, and learn and grow together.
You can read all about the event here Rollettes Experience 2022
This is an enormous opportunity for Jamie to make connections with others who share and understand her struggles and experience as a young woman with a spinal cord injury. She’s dreamed of attending this event for the past two years, and I am reaching out to everyone for help in making this dream come true.
The event itself is inexpensive to attend, but the cost of a hotel, and travel from North Carolina California is prohibitive, and we are asking for help with these costs.
Jamie is an incredible human being with a big heart, and I want to see her grow and thrive, despite the toll that her injury has taken on her independence.
We both want to express our deepest gratitude to anyone who is willing to make a donation, no matter how small!
