Help Jamie Get On Her Feet in DC

Hello everyone! My name is Jamie Hall. I am a junior legal communications major at Howard University from Kenosha, Wisconsin. Most of you all who know me know that I do not like asking for help, so this is a really big step and a pride swallow for me.

Here's my story: Last spring, I had to return home from Howard due to some unforeseen circumstances with the University. While at home I continued to do everything necessary to be prepared for the fall semester. My transition back to Howard went smoothly other than the fact that I did not get university housing. My roommate and I scrambled to find a place relatively close to campus that was as affordable as we could find in Washington DC. We settled on a place, and I packed all of my things up in my car, and with the help of my uncle, we moved me to DC. Living on your own brings up a lot of expenses I was not necessarily expecting nor prepared for, but for the first few months, even though it was difficult, I was able to get through it. but then things started going wrong with my car, and I have yet to recover. I am currently the only source of income in my new housing situation, but I am also a full-time student, so my part-time income is not enough to support us. Today is November 1st, and as it stands now, I do not have enough to ensure that we will still have this roof over our head. Despite it all though, I keep a smile on my face and try to still be the light to the people around me because I don't believe that your problems should ever damper another person's day.
