My mom, Jamie, is a fighter. For years she has fought through hospitalizations and intubation. About 6 years ago, she was diagnosed with Anderson Tawil Syndrome. A rare disease classified by periodic paralysis and muscular dystrophy. She posts about her medical journey on TikTok, and serves as an advocate for periodic paralysis disorders. She used to be a nurse, working with kids, but now she finds herself relying on state disability and health insurance. For the past few years she has been able to make ends meet, but recently her living situation has become unsafe. While I don't want to share too many personal details, I can say that her current environment is not safe for her physical or mental health. The stress of the household has put her in and out of the hospital, with stays so bad I prayed for her to live through the next day until I could go be with her. She has been advised to move out of the house as soon as possible, but she has no funding to help her. If she is unable to find a place, she has been told that a nursing home would be her option. This would significantly decrease her quality of life, and would separate her from her service dog, Atlas. I am a broke college student struggling myself, and have run out of options. The funds from this would help me find a safe living space for my mom, and support her with moving costs (as she is unable to drive or lift heavy objects). Anything would be a blessing so I can do something to help my mom when she's so far away from me. With love, Jaquilynn
