Help Jamie Conquer Cancer & Scleroderma

Donation protected
Our mom was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the end of 2019, and she faced treatment during the pandemic of 2020 almost completely isolated from friends and family.

In 2022 she was diagnosed with diffuse scleroderma, a rare and debilitating autoimmune disease that causes skin hardening all over the body – fingers, hands, arms, trunk, legs, and face. It is excruciatingly painful, limits mobility, and, at worst, can damage internal organs. There is no known cure.

In 2023, her cancer returned.

She has known suffering. And yet, like so many of you know who have been following along with her YouTube videos, she has shared her experience with humor, vulnerability, and an eye for the sacred and holy even in what is painful and scary.

In the last two months, she endured two rounds of grueling chemotherapy, both of which sent her to the hospital; she lost a quarter of her body weight; and she will be undergoing a stem cell transplant within the next month or so.

The miracle we pray for: the stem cell transplant has the potential to cure not only her cancer but also her scleroderma.

Mom and Dad will spend 6-7 weeks in Dallas for the transplant and recovery under careful observation. In addition to medical expenses, they will also be footing the bill for housing in the Dallas metropolis for those weeks, travel expenses, food, and care for their two little dogs back home.

If you know Jamie, you know she is a light in dark places, a soft presence when life is piercing, a woman who holds you when you can't hold on. She needs us to hold her now.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Your donation will help provide a comfortable, clean place for Mom and Dad to stay, far from home, while her body undergoes a vicious but necessary (and hopefully healing) treatment. It will provide nourishment and necessities. It will help cover what insurance won't. It will free them from the added concern for their fur babies back home.

A few specific needs your gift will impact:

  • 3-4 weeks housing in Dallas (1 week of stem cell harvesting and 2-3 weeks recovery from the transplant)
  • 3 additional weeks housing for Craig in Dallas when Jamie is actually getting the transplant
  • Food while they’re in Dallas
  • Travel expenses between Longview and Dallas
  • Medical bills not covered by insurance
  • Medications not covered by insurance
  • Dog care expenses

Every gift – small or large – means a world of difference. Please give whatever you can. Thank you so much for your care, for holding her up! We couldn't do this without the web of people reaching out with encouragement, prayers, and support!
