Help Jamie Adkins Overcome Health Challenges

My name is Leona Adkins and I'm making this go fund me to help with my husband's medical bills and living expenses while he is awaiting a decision from Social Security Disability.

A little backstory for those who don't know us personally. In December of 2023, Jamie burnt his foot with boiling water. He had a long recovery process but thankfully he graduated in May 2024 from wound care. See, Jamie is also a diabetic, so that was a blessing to fully heal without complications. Around February 2024, he began having episodes of being extremely sleepy and out of it for days at a time. After a particularly bad spell in April, I was finally able to convince him to go to the ER to be checked out. They found that he had CO2 building up in his body due to undiagnosed Sleep Apnea. He continued struggling with week-long episodes until July when he decided to get checked out again at a different ER. That resulted in a 6-day hospital stay and a diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure. Jamie hasn't worked since November of 2023. We have been surviving on my income and a little bit of savings from his Momma's estate. My income has been drastically reduced as well because of my limited ability to work when needing to provide care for Jamie. In addition to these health concerns, he also has developed Diabetic Retinopathy and has been receiving shots in his eyes to help treat it. He's currently on 2 liters of oxygen 24 hours a day. The current struggles of the health care system have led to delays in getting Jamie fitted for a CPAP or a BiPAP as well.

To say life has really been a struggle lately is an understatement to say the least. See, Jamie also lost his Momma to a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer in Jan as well. Any monies received will go towards paying off medical bills as well as helping with our household bills until he receives his determination from Social Security.
