**update**
it has been one year since jami has come home from the hospital. He is permanently disabled due to this incident. He still keeps a smile on his face and continues to work towards recovery. We would like to thank everyone who has helped us out in our time of need

On Friday, July 25, 2025, my husband Jami was hit while riding his motorcycle home from work , throwing Jami from his bike and causing major injuries to his hip, pelvis, and femur. He also suffered road rash and a deep gash on his upper thigh. Jami had to be airlifted by medical helicopter to Sioux Falls, where he underwent surgery on July 27 and again on July 30. Once he is stable and free from infection, he will be transferred to a physical therapy rehab facility in Sioux Falls to begin learning how to move his body again. For at least three months, he will be unable to put any weight on his leg, relying on a wheelchair and only using a walker for basic needs. Even after that, his recovery will be a long journey. When he returns home, he will need physical therapy three to four times a week, either in-office or with a home health aide.

Jami was the sole provider for our family. I have been a stay-at-home mom since our children were born, and I won’t start my new job as a teacher’s assistant until late August. We have a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old. On top of everything, Jami’s Harley is totaled, and insurance investigations may take time to resolve the remaining loan. We are working on short-term disability, but that will only cover a portion of his normal pay.

We created this fundraiser to help with daily trips to Sioux Falls, building a ramp for our home, and covering our essential expenses until our benefits begin and I start work. We are so grateful that Jami is alive—it could have ended so much worse. We truly believe he had a guardian angel with him that day. Asking for help is not easy, but your support means the world to us as we navigate this difficult time. Thank you for considering a donation or sharing our story.
