Hi, my name is Rachel Swanson. I am not one to usually reach out for help like this but have had requests from many friends to start this Go Fund Me for my husband Jamey. Jamey recently ended up in the hospital with multiple symptoms including a 35 lb water retention in less than 4 days. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney failure and pneumonia on top of that due to the water retention. His kidneys are currently functioning at approximately 29%. Doctor says there are large holes in the kidneys allowing all the bad things to go unfiltered. If all goes extremely well and nothing worsens, they say he would be lucky to have a couple years left. Unfortunately, his labs are seeming to decline at a fast rate and we are seeing those levels drop in as little as a weeks time. The medication he is taking to even attempt to function day to day and to try to cut the water weight is damaging to the kidneys and will cause a quicker decline as well. We have found treatment options that can repair the damage through stem cell therapy in an attempt to avoid transplant. The transplant is considered to be high risk due to health history and we are unsure if approval could even be achieved. We are doing our best and have been selling our possessions to help cover medical costs the last 3 weeks. So many people lately have expressed how Jamey has always been there for them, would do everything he could to help others, and that we should be reaching out for once. I know he feels the same way I do about asking for help and I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to read this and especially if you choose to help in anyway. My prayer is that we can find a way to make this possible to help Jamey outrun the Reaper (yes, we always have to add the smile and humor lol) and more importantly so that he can get back to enjoying the simple things and hopefully a prolonged life with his family (including his 12 year old daughter) and we all get to see his smile a little longer.
