Our 17-month-old son, Jameson, has been facing significant challenges due to hypotonia and several other medical complexities. Despite extensive physical therapy, he is still unable to walk or stand without assistance. Watching him work so hard every day has been both inspiring and heartbreaking for our family.
Recently, we encountered a major hurdle: our insurance has not approved a gait trainer or walker for Jameson, and the cost out-of-pocket is more than we can afford. Jameson has been using a size 1 crocodile gait trainer during his physical therapy sessions, and it has truly given him a taste of freedom and independence. Through the kindness of another mom in the hypotonia community, we were offered the exact same gait trainer her daughter had outgrown, free of charge. Unfortunately, over the course of several exchanges, the essential sling seat and support attachment—crucial for children with lower muscle tone—were lost.
These add-ons are not just accessories; they are essential for Jameson to be able to stand, take steps, and walk. Without them, he can barely move the walker at all. When Jameson is able to be physically active, especially with his brothers and sister, he is a completely different, happier baby. It breaks our hearts to see him unable to join in, and we want nothing more than to give him the chance to move and play like other children his age.
We know times are tough for everyone, and you have already given us so much love, support, and encouragement. With mounting medical expenses, my own recent major surgery, and upcoming surgeries for both myself and Jameson's 4-year-old brother, Lawson, we are reaching out for help. Your support—whether through a donation or simply sharing our story—means everything to us. Thank you for being part of Jameson’s journey and for helping us give him the freedom he deserves.
