My name is James, I am a 21 year old trans person and Zero is my dog going onto 1 years old.

Since I’ve been old enough to remember I have been mentally and verbally abused by my mother and sister, in the more recent years I have been concerned of them getting physical towards eachother (luckily not towards me) but ever since receiving Zero in August 2024 they have been taking out their anger on an untrained puppy.

They refuse to look up and try proper ways to handle a hyper high maintenance dog. Everytime I try to express what might be beneficial for her I get yelled at and put down.

I have offered my mom to pay for professional training for Zero and my mothers response was “I grew up my whole life with people telling me what to do. This is MY dog and I won’t have anyone telling me what to do.”

Speaking of which, Zero was brought into our family to be a companion for ME to help with my mental health and help me to get outside everyday BUT my mom says if I were to move out Zero would not be able to come with me because she is her dog.

Not only does she threaten to take away my ownership she actually does have ownership over my funding support from an organization which I am unaware of the name because she will never share any information I ask for.

I am currently working on getting in touch with legal assistance but for now every donation will be a big support to help pay for moving fees and training for Zero once we have evacuated.
