Help James walk again with spinal surgery

My name is James Nisbet, and I’ve been active my whole life. Whether working in theatre in Los Angeles making sure productions run smoothly or in Canada, working on home renovations and building new homes.

When I’m not working, simple things such as hiking, cycling, painting, art galleries and museums make me happy.

All this changed in the last month. After suffering two debilitating seizures which resulted in a burst vertebra in my spine, I can no longer walk. I'm in severe pain, unable to work and am bedridden. The pain has been constant and an absolute daily nightmare to deal with. My only hope is to have spinal decompression surgery at St Mike's hospital in Toronto, to repair my spine and relieve me of the debilitating pain.

I am in a very difficult situation and am reaching out to my whole community for support.

I am weeks away from returning to the UK to be able to apply for long term residency in Canada, my home for the last 5 years. In this transition time, I have to pay out of pocket for all my health care costs, the surgery and rehabilitation before they will even start any of the process. The timing couldn’t be worse but I’m lucky to be referred to top quality care.

I’m reaching out and hoping the universe can give back to me in this incredibly difficult moment, as I’ve given of myself to others over the years.

I’m asking for help to cover the costs for the spinal decompression surgery and rehabilitation so I can literally “get back on my feet”. Anything helps towards the costs as I am currently unable to work or even function with everyday tasks.
