Help James & Tucker after their terrible accident!
Hey guys! Some of you already know me but if you don’t, I am Tucker’s trainer and friend. We had a pretty big accident memorial day weekend. We were hiking at Zaleski State Forest and Tucker took a pretty big tumble off a 200ft cliff and one of his loving dads, James, tried to go after him and ended up falling as well. James had to be life flighted out after hours of being trapped many feet below us.
Miraculously, both pup and dad survived the fall! We eventually found Tucker making his way back to protect his papa while he laid there waiting for help for hours before search and rescue and emts arrived. James suffered severe lacerations, a head injury, seizure, fractured right ankle and left hip but thankfully he is stable and recovering at Grant! He has undergone multiple surgeries already and will need at least one if not 2-3 more, followed by a lot of physical and occupational therapy!
Tucker is currently at Medvet in Worthington with a collapsed lung. He has been on chest tubes for multiple days, pumping air out of his chest cavity and waiting to see if a surgery is necessary to remove the damaged lung lobe. He is very strong and pulling through these procedures like a champ but the road to recovery will be very long.
As you can imagine costs are piling up by the minute. We have no idea what the medical expenses for James will be, but between the ambulance, life flight, all the surgeries, hospital stay and recovery it will not be cheap, even with insurance. Additionally, James will need help once he is home and Michael will need to take time off to take care of him. Tucker’s bills are looking to be at a minumim of $10,000 and that’s without the lung lobe removal surgery, which is another $6-8,000. Please, please consider donating and/or sharing this page to help the boys, they are wonderful people who love animals and have bent over backwards to make sure Tucker, his sister Nutmeg and all their cat brothers and sisters have a good healthy life! Thank you!
