Help James Stacy

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Paula Stacy. My friends and I are trying to raise money to help my son James, who has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma.

James is 45 and lives in Blanchard, OK. He is a husband and the father of two; a son who recently graduated from high school and is now serving in our military and a daughter who is currently in high school. He works in the Amazon warehouse in Oklahoma City, filling and preparing orders for shipment, a job he truly enjoys.

On May 19, 2021 his life changed. He was experiencing intense pain in his right leg which sent him to the doctor's office for answers. The doctor informed him he had cancer and his first surgery was scheduled for May 24, 2021. The doctors were not able to get all of the cancer and a complication from the surgery caused a blood clot to form in his left leg. The blood clot tested positive for Factor 5 (blood clot disease) and he was prescribed a blood thinner to dissolve the blood clot.

One month later, a PET Scan revealed five new hot spots in his right leg and another surgery was scheduled for June 15, 2021. The cancer was becoming aggressive rapidly and in addition to the five new hot spots it had caused a tumor to form on his groin.

Two weeks ago a new growth had formed at the bottom of the scar from his first surgery. At this time his tumors are inoperable and he is on an immunotherapy treatment plan. In a discussion with his oncologist and Palliative Care team, it was decided this type of treatment was the best at this time; radiation, chemo or other targeted treatments could interfere with his epilepsy medications. James has immunotherapy treatment every three weeks for 8 hours. This kind of treatment helps your immune system fight cancer. The treatment leaves him tired and weak, and he has suffered loss of appetite (losing 10 pounds in two weeks.)

On September 21, 2021, the pain on his groin had become so severe he had to go back to the doctor. The tumor had enlarged and was inflamed. He was admitted to the hospital and hooked up to an IV of antibiotics and given pain medication and a biopsy was taken. The next morning the oncologist ordered a CT and the results caused some concern so another was ordered using a dye injection to get a better look. He was allowed to go home, but is scheduled for radiation on the groin area in the next week.

James oncologist will not allow him to work for at least the next 6 months while he is undergoing treatment. Amazon has placed him on Short Term Disability, but that will not last forever, and trying to live on half of a paycheck, means somethings do get get taken care of. To date, James has accrued over $10,000 out of pocket expenses not covered by insurance. The medical bills are stacking up quickly and then there are the regular monthly expenses; food, utilities, rent, non-food items, gasoline to get him to and from his therapy treatments and doctor appointments.

Life is extremely overwhelming for James and my daughter-in-law Kristi right now. They need your help and will be grateful and appreciative of any donations they receive to help them during this stressful time. Please keep them in your prayers.
