My name is James, and I never imagined I’d find myself in this situation. A couple of years ago, my roommate’s car was broken, and he asked to borrow mine. I work from home and had just finished paying off my car, so I wanted to help. Unfortunately, he drove it long distances to work and it broke down. The repair bill was far more than I could afford. At the same time, my other roommate moved out, and my rent suddenly doubled.

Since then, I haven’t had a car for two years. I’ve barely left my home, and it’s been incredibly isolating. I’ve tried to stay positive, but losing my independence and facing these financial setbacks has made it hard to see a way forward.
