Hello, my name is James Barrett and I am a local carpenter in Riverhead, NY. Over the past several years, my life has been turned upside down by unimaginable loss and hardship. In 2017, my brother David passed away suddenly, and soon after, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. My sisters, Heidi and Shannon, God bkess them both struggled with addiction, and tragically, I lost them as well in a manner of 2 years while my mom was still alive . I know there are tons of great people doing the right thing and looking after their parents when theyre sick or old. But doing all of that during a pandemic with a woman grieving 3 children in rapid succession is a whole other animal. I cared for my mother until her final days and handled all the arrangements for my siblings' funerals on my own. In fact i paid for all of Shannon's funeral and raised all the money for my mothers..The pain of losing my entire family and support group has been overwhelming, but I have done my best to keep going and honor their memories.

Despite these challenges, I have remained committed to my work as a self-employed carpenter and to my faith, having given my life to Christ and become a member of my local church. However, the financial strain has been immense. I recently had to pay for legal fees, which wiped out my savings. My dental health has suffered, and I am in urgent need of implants as my teeth are falling out and I have no molars left. On top of that, I am behind on bills, my bathroom needs a remodel, and my roof has a slow leak that needs repair.
