Help James Morin focus on healing
Donation protected
Please help us focus on recovery and not the mountain of debt.
On Monday, May 19th around 2:30 pm, my daddy, James Morin, was in a motorcycle wreck north of Thibodaux in Chakbay. We don’t know exactly how it happened because he doesn’t remember. He was fortunate that a Good Samaritan stopped when she saw him lying in a ditch. She called 911 and stayed with him until he was airlifted out.
He was taken to University Hospital in New Orleans by helicopter. He had a pretty badly broken lower left leg, which was surgically repaired on Tuesday. The orthopedic surgeon said the procedure went well. He had ligament damage around the knee which will require a separate surgery. He also suffered a fracture in his right ankle and 5 rib fractures.
We don’t know how long he’ll be hospitalized. Doctors have talked about him going to a rehabilitation center for several weeks for around-the-clock care and intense physical therapy once released from the hospital. Even after that, he will need a wheelchair for some time.
Being in a wheelchair brings up a whole new set of problems as he lives in a trailer and will need to have a ramp built in place of the stairs.
All of this will be expensive and we don’t know when or even if he’ll be able to return to his part-time job at Cabela’s. His girlfriend, Doris, also works part-time at Cabela’s. However, she recently dealt with her own share of health issues that led to her being out from work for 3.5 months. A part-time job and social security don’t go far with daily bills, let alone medical bills and home improvements.
All money collected will go toward bills and necessary house projects. If you know us personally and want to offer your time or skills with home improvements, please reach out. So many people care about my daddy and want him back to his old shenanigans soon. Please donate and share so “Couyon” can focus on healing.
Thank you,
