For the past 10 years, I’ve been on welfare, doing my best to survive and slowly rebuild my life. I’m finally working and taking real steps toward stability, but I don’t have savings yet, given that I’m still rebuilding from the ground up.

Recently, I discovered mold in my apartment. It wasn’t something I could safely ignore particularly when I have asthma, and I was forced to move unexpectedly. Because of how tight the rental market is, the only place I could secure on short notice costs more than double what I was paying before.

To make things harder, I work from home, and the move caused me to miss work and lose income during a critical time. Between the sudden move, higher rent, and lost wages, I’ve fallen short on next month’s rent and I don’t have a financial cushion to fall back on.

I’m not asking lightly. I’m doing everything I can to stay afloat and keep moving forward, but right now I truly need help to get through this moment. Any contribution, no matter how small, would help me cover rent and stabilize my situation while I get back on track.
