Help James Lucien After Wrongful Conviction

Donation protected
People that have been wrongfully convicted, the agony of prison life and the complete loss of freedom are only compounded by the feelings of what might have been. Deprived for years of family and friends and the ability to establish oneself professionally, the nightmare does not end upon release. With no money, housing, transportation, health services or insurance, and a criminal record that is rarely cleared despite innocence, the punishment lingers long after innocence has been proven. This is a reality that James Lucien is currently facing.

James Lucien was born May 1973 and was raised in Boston, Massachusetts. James was raised by a single mother who loved him dearly. James's mother was a God-fearing woman who was well respected in the Haitian Community. She worked several jobs to provide James with the best life and education. James attended Saint Angela Catholic School and went to Cathedral High School. Suddenly at the age of 16 years old, James's mother passed away unexpectedly. James's first love, confidant, best friend was no longer there for him.

For over 27 years James Lucien was incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. The city of Boston robbed him of his youth, son, family and most importantly his full potential. On November 28, 1995, in Suffolk Superior Court, James Lucien was wrongfully convicted on one count of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery, and one count of illegal possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

During the time James was incarcerated he never stop fighting for his freedom. While in prison he obtained his GED, Welder’s license, and a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a minor in Sociology from Boston University.

On December 8th, 2021, Suffolk County Superior Court released 48-year-old James Lucien after 27 years in prison. The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office found that a former Boston officer involved in Lucien's case, Detective John Brazil, took part in a corruption operation with other officers. The group, which reportedly participated in the scheme for a time in the 90s, submitted false warrant applications to seize cash from drug dealers and keep it for themselves.

James Lucien lost 27 years of his life without his family and can never get that back. James is now looking to reestablish his life and looking towards the future and becoming a motivational speaker to share his story all over the world. Please donate today to help James Lucien establish himself in a home and provide for his basic needs. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
