Hello everyone,
I wanted to share some news with you regarding James "Kimo" Brown. You might have heard that he recently experienced a serious accident during his cross-country adventure to document herptiles across the US. James had been talking about this trip for as long as I've known him and dedicated the past few years to preparing his RV for this journey. Unfortunately, earlier this month, his plans were drastically altered when a distracted semi-tractor trailer driver swerved into his lane while they were driving down a mountain highway. Given the steep shoulders of the road, James had no choice but to absorb the impact head-on. The resulting collision left him with back and neck injuries and caused irreparable damage to the RV he had painstakingly outfitted for this expedition.
James is known for his resourcefulness and ability to make do with very little compared to most people. However, his current situation is quite dire. With his RV beyond repair and his belongings lost, he's currently staying at a nearby intentional community. Nevertheless, his long-term prospects remain uncertain. Although he's not one to ask for assistance, he could really use some help to get him back on his feet. The money will be used for temporary living expenses, medical bills, attorney fees, and perhaps as a start toward purchasing a van.
For those of you who've had the pleasure of being around James, you understand that he's an extraordinary individual—a self-taught Florida naturalist with a wealth of knowledge, and a never-ending list of anecdotes from a bygone era in our state. I'm hopeful that many of you can contribute to provide him with some relief during this challenging period. Any contribution, no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated.
Sending love and peace to all.
