Dear friends and family,
As many of you know James has struggled with addiction for many years. He has coped with past trauma by using drugs and alcohol to mask the pain he has. Opiates have been his drug of choice. Scary stuff. In the past year, his health has begun to fail and again to mask the pain he has chosen to use. Family and friends have encouraged James to get help but as many of you know, it doesn’t matter how much you beg an addict to get sober until they are ready it won’t happen.
After losing many loved ones to addiction the reality of James’ addiction has become clear for him. It is life or death. James has taken step 1 and has admitted he has a problem and has asked for help and wants to go to rehab.
Immediately after James asked for help we have had a team of people helping him find the resources he needs to get sober. Due to the level of his addiction to opiates, he is needing a medically supervised detox so that he does not die from throwing his body into shock. He also needs an inpatient program that will offer a dual diagnosis and work with him on healthy ways to cope with his past traumas.
The biggest shock for us in this process has been the lack of resources for people who don’t have a lot of money or great health insurance. After dozens of calls, we have finally located a rehabilitation center in Southern California that suits James’ needs and will offer him a safe place to detox. This program is usually $30,000 for 30 days but has offered James a scholarship of $20,000. If we can come up with $10,000 he will be able to check in to this life-changing treatment center.
Although we feel embarrassed to ask for help we are willing to do whatever at this point to get James into treatment. We need James’ family and friends to come together more than ever to make this happen for him. His life depends on this at this point.
James has so much life to live and an 11-year-old daughter who loves her dad so much. He has spent the last three days detoxing on his own at home and is struggling. We need to get him into a facility as soon as possible. Never have we ever felt that his commitment to wanting to be sober has been stronger. He is ready to break the cycle of addiction and live his best life sober. He has been brave, raw, and vulnerable when asking for help. We are so proud of him for taking the hardest step and are committed to seeing him through the rest of the way.
We ask that if you can help us financially that you do. Every one dollar counts. If you can’t financially help please show your support by sharing this post and sending prayers up for James.
We love you guys!
