Help James heck out with their pecs out!

Hello! Welcome! Here's a place to contribute to my trans tax surgery fees! (Full description below).

FRIENDS! I have some great news, a big ask, and treats for you. The news is I had a consultation with a surgeon for top surgery last week! (WHAT!) And am on the wait list *and* the cancellation list, which means it could be a year or like, I dunnow, a month, till I can heck out with my pecs out! (WHAAAAT)

This has been YEARS in the making, and I feel extra excited about it. But here's the ask. The ask is financial: Under our current health care system, the cost of gender affirmation surgery is covered (finally), but they only cover what is considered 'medically necessary,' and not what is considered 'cosmetic.' What that means is if you happen to have any fat or breast tissue that extends from the chest to your sides and underarms (extra respectfully called 'dog ears', and common for larger folks to have), it stays put. UNLESS you pay a fee, in which case no problem they'll take that too. The fee is $2,500. And I don't have $2,500.

Most of you know that I started nursing this year, which is the job of my DREAMS, and pays well, but I'm still frantically trying to pay down the years and years of debt I have from *not* having a well paying job, so there's no sort of nest egg to go toward surgery. And the fee is paid pre-procedure. Which means I could need it in a year, or like, I dunno, a month. Hah.

But ok now here's the treats!! I struggle a lot with asking without giving something in return. SO. As an ongoing fundraiser to cover this fee (and some more for the 6-8 weeks recovery time, as I'm a casual worker and have no vacation days), I'm CRAFTING. And I am a GREAT crafter, let me tell you.

I'm hand-making oven-safe-and-microwavable fabric rice heat-therapy bags, with all sorts of beautiful fabric, as well as beeswax food wraps, which are all the rage right now, and TOTES! (Good gracious I love a tote). So if you want to help a community member out, you can have some sweet, stylish, and actually practical swag as a thank you! (Also I don't know if you've heard the rumors but there may be scrunchies in the mix as well. Just saying).

I'd love to have a big Bye Bye Boobies party too, and will keep you updated of course, but for now it's me, the sewing machine, and your love.

If you want to, and are able to contribute, PM me and we'll set something up! If you just want to donate I will not say no to that either! (Look at me working on my asking, so proud). If you're in Canada I can rock etransfers if you can! (It's faster and with less fees than this site).

If you want to help but have no finances I might have a couple work parties! PM me if you wanna help make my house smell like beautiful warm beeswax. Also you can come hang out with me after it all when I'm sleepy and bandaged and bored! Or you can just share this post!! That helps too!

Thank you for reading! Please help me pay this ridiculous trans tax!

Lastly, if this is EXTRA SUCCESSFUL and I raise more than what I need, (and/or don't spend all that I raised), I will gleefully donate the excess to other trans folks who need funds for gender affirming surgery. Spread the love!!

Yours. James
