Support James After a Devastating Pedestrian Accident

On April 10, 2026, after returning home from a Mariners game, my little brother, James Weinstein, was hit by a speeding hit-and-run driver, thrown into oncoming traffic, and then hit by a second car while lying in the roadway near his home.

James is just 32 years old and is a beloved son, brother, uncle, partner, and friend. He is known for his big heart, generous spirit, and the way he shows up for the people he loves.

The accident left James in critical condition with a broken clavicle, broken arm, cracked ribs, a broken femur, and a severed artery in his leg. He nearly lost his life. Thanks to the quick actions of first responders, the surgeons, and the medical team at St. Joseph Medical Center, his life was saved.

Now, two months later, the full impact of James’s injuries is coming into clearer focus. His recovery will be long, difficult, and life-changing. At this stage, James has no use of his left foot and only about 30% mobility in his left arm, leaving that arm with very limited functional use in daily life. He will need a wheelchair to navigate for some time, and in order for him to return home safely, his house will need meaningful accessibility improvements. This may include ramps, doorway adjustments, bathroom modifications, and other changes to make his home safe and usable as he continues to heal.

Although James has insurance, this accident has already created significant financial strain, and the costs ahead will be substantial. Non-covered medical expenses, lost income, mobility equipment, home accessibility modifications, transportation needs, and everyday costs will create a heavy burden in the months ahead.
