Help Veteran James Gonzalez in His Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Hello my family and friends. In fall 2021, my dad, James Gonzalez, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, an incurable rare blood cancer. Since his diagnosis 2.5 years ago, my dad has been in and out of the Portland VA Medical Center undergoing multiple radiation and chemotherapy treatment plans. Last week, we received the devastating news that his treatment has once again stopped working and the cancer is growing.
The plan is to start a relatively new treatment called CAR T-Cell Therapy, which uses genetically modified T-cells to fight cancer cells. Due to the risk of major side effects, my dad will need to be closely monitored and attend daily clinic check-ups for at least two months. Consequently, my mom will take time off work to act as his caregiver.
As you can imagine, it has been incredibly challenging financially and emotionally for my family. To help offset medical bills and unemployment, we are asking for your support to help James continue his fight. Thank you for your support and prayers as we continue to navigate this difficult time.
