Hello everyone,
My name is Stefanie and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for support for my husband, James, who was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease last year. In May 2025, we received lab results that showed his kidneys had declined drastically, and he had to begin emergency hemodialysis immediately. James now has stage 5 kidney disease with his kidneys working less than 15% on their own. He underwent surgery to place a catheter port in his chest and is currently undergoing life-sustaining dialysis multiple times a week.
James has battled diabetes and high blood pressure for over 20 years, which we now know severely damaged his kidneys. We are now in contact with the Mayo Clinic after a referral, where he is being considered for a life-saving kidney transplant.
Before James can transition to home hemodialysis, he needs another surgery to repair a hernia so they can safely place the abdominal port required for home treatment. During this time, James is unable to work, and our family is facing major financial strain.
We are doing everything we can to keep things going, but we’re reaching a point where we need help. We have three children living at home, and our oldest just graduated high school and started working—but she has no transportation, so we are trying to get her a vehicle to help ease the burden and keep things moving. We also help support James’s other son, who lives with his mother.
Your support—whether financial, emotional, or by sharing this campaign—means the world to us. Every donation goes directly to:
• James’s medical expenses
• Monthly bills and living costs
• Transportation for our daughter to help support our family
• Travel costs to Mayo Clinic (if accepted for transplant)
Thank you for reading and being part of our journey. We believe in miracles and community—and we’re so grateful for yours.
With love and gratitude,
Stefanie, James and Family
