My name is Kimo, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my childhood friend, James Bent. James is one of those rare people who has spent his life giving—through hard work, through friendship, and through music. As a musician, James has blessed countless people with his gift, using music to uplift, comfort, and bring people together. If you’ve ever heard him play, you know it comes from a deep place of heart and faith.
Today, James is facing a life-altering medical battle. He has been diagnosed with stage four chronic kidney disease, along with serious heart disease and multiple related medical complications. He lives with chronic pain, swelling in his legs, severe fatigue, gout, and ongoing bladder and kidney complications. These health issues have taken a tremendous physical and emotional toll. Since May of 2025, James has been unable to work. For someone who has always worked hard and taken pride in providing for himself and his family, this has been incredibly difficult. Even performing music—something he loves and has used to bless others—has become increasingly challenging as his health has declined.
James now needs a kidney transplant in order to survive and regain quality of life. While he does have insurance, the reality is that insurance does not cover everything. Medical bills, medications, specialist visits, travel, transplant-related costs, recovery expenses, and basic living needs have continued to pile up during a time when James cannot work. This fundraiser is meant to help ease that burden, so James can focus on healing rather than worrying about how to make ends meet. Every donation—no matter the amount—will go directly toward medical expenses, transplant-related costs, medications, and essential living expenses during his recovery.
