I met James Dukes and his two young children in the Fry’s grocery parking lot on a hot day. James approached me, kindly asking if he could wash my windshield. As I spoke with him, I learned that he is a hardworking father doing everything he can to provide for his family. He currently works at Goodwill and is searching for a second job to make ends meet.

James’ 1.5-year-old son has outgrown his medical helmet device, which is essential for his health and development. The family needs to purchase a new helmet, but the cost is a significant hardship. I saw James pushing his baby in a stroller, with his 3-year-old daughter by his side, as many people turned away. Despite the challenges, James remains determined to care for his children and give them the best he can.

James showed me the invoice for the new medical helmet, and I knew I wanted to help. The new helmet will greatly improve his son’s health and development, giving him the best chance to thrive.
