Help James Cover Jasmine’s Health Scare Medical Costs

Hey everyone. James Chen aka “jchensor” here.
As you may have read on my Social Media, my baby girl Jasmine, the sweetest black cat you’ll ever meet, gave me a health scare recently. A visit to the vet revealed a large lump on her chin, and the fear was that it might have been cancer. So I spared no expenses on making sure she was okay.
Fortunately, after two more visits to the vet and a bunch of tests done at two different branches of VCA, the vet said that it is most likely *not* cancer, though we are still waiting for the biopsy results in a couple of weeks just to be 100% certain.
However, what was discovered was that Jasmine was suffering from teeth resorption, not an unusual thing for cats at all. And the lump on her chin was directly under one of the two teeth that were causing her discomfort. So most likely it is an infection that should subside on its own. But the teeth were causing her pain, so we had to have a couple of teeth removed.
She is back home now and she’s back to her normal super affectionate self, appetite has returned, and back to wanting to get her pets while lying down on my chests usual. And hopefully the follow-up visits won’t reveal anything else.
Unfortunately, though she should be fine, I did opt for a few precautionary tests to be done, including a heart check on a slight murmur that was recommended to check to make sure the anesthetics wouldn’t be a risk. And Jasmine definitely needs anesthetics because she is a fighter, and I have scars to prove that.
But as a result, the fees for the two visits of tests and one surgery have racked up and is at a cost I cant afford, despite being on a world famous FGC commentator’s salary (world famous FGC commentator’s salary = I’m broke).
I am giving full disclosure on everything. The first visit was to VCA Santa Monica Dog and Cat Hospital. Once the tests were done there, the vet recommended doing a full second exam at the VCA West LA Animal Hospital branch that has more facilities for tests and operations they can’t do at the Santa Monica branch.
If you check the photos, you’ll see the two totals I had to pay: $1,318.59 — for precautionary tests done on her stomach and an x-ray at the Santa Monica branch, — and $5,317.30 — for the work done to remove two teeth, take another x-ray, do the cardiogram for her heart, and perform the biopsy on the lump to make for certain it’s not cancer — which comes to a total of $6,635.89. Yes, VCA charges a lot. ☹️ Yes, I’m going to look into an affordable pet insurance.
Both invoices are in the photos for this GoFundMe with itemized costs so you can see *exactly* what I was charged for. GoFundMe also takes 3% of all donations, which is juuuust under $200, so I’ve set the goal to $6,800 to help mitigate that. I don’t expect to reach that goal, but I wanted to make sure everyone understands why I set the amount that I’ve set for the goal.
I appreciate all help no matter how big or small. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you everyone. I owe so much to the Fighting Game Community, and I know you guys love seeing Jasmine and Nathan pop up on my streams for cameos. So hopefully we’ll be seeing a lot more of both of them in the next many years. ❤️
