I, Nichole Avery, am launching this fundraising campaign to support my parents by alleviating some of the financial burdens, allowing them to focus on my father's healing process. On January 31st, my father, James Conrad, experienced an aortic aneurysm rupture while at home with my mother. He received emergency medical attention and was transported to Midcoast before being transferred to MaineMed for emergency surgery. Thankfully, he survived the surgery; however, the loss of blood flow to his spinal cord resulted in a spinal cord injury, likely leaving him unable to walk again. This traumatic event has also revealed that he has been living with heart disease, requiring upcoming heart surgery. As a result, there are many uncertainties, and a lengthy recovery is inevitable. Assuming the surgery is successful, we will need to make significant modifications to their home to ensure handicap accessibility, in addition to addressing the loss of my father's income. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated in helping them navigate this substantial life change. I am grateful that my father is still with us and receiving excellent care. Please pray for his continued healing and respect their need for privacy during this challenging time.
