As many of you know, James is facing a new battle with Leukemia—a side effect of the arduous battle he bravely fought in 2011 against cancer. He has already proven he’s a skilled and determined fighter, and with Erin by his side, he’s ready to kick cancer’s ass once again. However, the road ahead is a steep one.

James is currently preparing for a bone marrow transplant, which requires a mandatory 100-day recovery period where he cannot be left alone and must have 24-hour care. Because James is a freelance sign language interpreter, his income stops when he isn't working. Between the hospital stays, the intensive healing at home, and his inability to return to work until the fall, the financial burden is immense. Added to this is the loss of Erin's income as she stands by James' side to ensure his recovery and keep his spirits up. Amidst all of this, we want James and Erin to be able to celebrate their daughter, Gabby, as she graduates from high school and starts college this fall without the crushing weight of the financial burden of this illness on their shoulders.

James and Erin are the friends who show up for everyone else—building garden beds, surprising us when we’re down, and caring deeply for their community. Now, it’s our turn to show up for them.
