I was diagnosed with ALS after already reaching the middle stages, and now I am in the late middle stages. In 2024, I lost the use of my right hand and can now barely use the thumb of my left hand. Medicare paid for a wheelchair, but unfortunately, they will not cover the cost of a ramp for my house. This is a significant expense for us. My wife has been taking wonderful care of me, but she is reaching her limit as my needs increase. I am beginning to require more personal care, which Medicare will not pay for, but which I will need as my condition progresses.
The funds raised here will go directly toward building the ramp for my home and helping to pay for the personal care I need. Being able to get in and out of the house safely is essential for my doctor’s appointments and quality of life. Your support will also help lighten the burden on my wife, who has been my main caregiver through all of this.
Thank you so much for your generous gift of any amount. I know many of my friends are older and facing their own challenges, so any support means a great deal to us. If we reach our goal, any extra funds will be donated to the ALS Association. We also plan to donate the electric wheelchair and ramp to the ALS Association when I pass away. I have chosen not to have a tracheotomy and hope to pass away as gently as possible. In the meantime, your kindness and support will make a real difference in our lives.
