Help Jamel Get Back on His Feet Again

Donation protected
Jamel Ramsook is a true light to this dim world. He is an essential worker at Pep Boys and is a pilot at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He loves all things fast... from cars, to motorcycles, to aircrafts. With that being said, he takes all the necessary precautions when riding the bike. Jamel wears his helmet, back plate, leather jacket, gloves, long pants, and close toed shoes. If he didn’t always take the extra minute to be cautious, he would be in a way worse situation than what ended up happening. Thursday, May 7th, 2020 changed everything. It was a gorgeous evening and all of us decided to go riding and catch the sunset at the beach. Jamel was accompanied by long time friends Allen, Will, Rafael as well as Cody, Tyller, Tawnee, and Allison. After meeting up and grabbing some gas at the Shell on Beville, we were ready to start our cruise. If you’re a Daytona local, taking the Bellevue Extension behind the airport makes more sense to avoid unnecessary risks when riding on the surrounding major roads. As we were going around the back road, the uneven ripples in the neglected road made Jamel lose control and flew hundreds of feet into the water ditch. A plume of dust and water explode as he was launched into the ditch. We quickly stopped and ran over to assess and help the situation. He was laying on his back partially in the water with his helmet, leather jacket, and pants partially in tact. Tyller ran into the water ditch and was joined by a nearby stranger, Hope, who watched it play out across the street. Both proceeded to be with him in the waist deep in the mucky water. Tyller was holding his c-spine and making sure his head didn’t sink into the muddy water. Hope held up whatever body part he requested to allow himself not to tense up and sink further down. The ladies didn’t have a full understanding of his injuries except to keep him still and talking. Overall, Jamel remained very patient with the ladies and was conscious the entire time. Hope and Tyller kept asking questions to continue a conversation with him. He was doing amazing despite the trauma his body had just gone through. This further proves how much strength Jamel possesses. Above the ditch, Allen and another bystander was on the phone with 911. Two officers, an ambulance, and fire truck arrived at the scene within 15 minutes. His mother, brother, and sister also arrived quickly. They came onto the other side where Jamel, Tyller, and Hope were at. The two firefighters pushed a ladder into the muck and dropped a backboard down. With a group effort, we got him on and strapped in to make sure he moves the least amount possible when pulling him up the steep incline. We all got him up and they placed him onto the stretcher and it was left into the first responders hands. Jamel was taken to Halifax and was treated for his numerous injuries. Later that night he was rushed to surgery for internal bleeding. He also sustained a broken pelvis, broken ribs, a concussion, and his left tibia and fibula that broke in two places. After about a week and a half since the accident, he was released and has a long road ahead for recovery. Thankfully, he is surrounded by his mother, girlfriend, sister, and brother as these are the core of his support group right now. With that being said, the extent of everything from the ambulance, emergent surgery, hospital stay, and rehab. It has an astronomical price tag. Please donate what you can and SHARE this campaign. He is the last person to ever deserve this adversity, but he is also strong enough to get through this dark time with his radiant light. Please help Jamel get back on his feet again. Thank you.
