Hi, I’m Naomi, and I’m reaching out for help to support two people who mean the world to me — Jamal and Ella — as they face something no young couple should ever have to go through.

Late last night, Jamal and Ella woke to the sound of crashing. A fire on the other side of their fence had rapidly spread, engulfing the fence and their carport. With the help of the fireys, they managed to escape through the backyard — incredibly lucky to make it out uninjured. They left with nothing but the clothes on their backs and their dog on a lead.

When we got the call, we learned their home had been severely damaged. Tragically, they have lost almost everything. What wasn’t burnt has been destroyed by smoke or water. Among the losses were Jamal’s treasured guitars and amps — including a guitar he had only picked up yesterday, something he was so excited about.

Jamal has been part of my family for a long time. He and Ella have already overcome more challenges in their young lives than most of us face in a lifetime. Despite everything, they remain kind, hardworking, generous, and resilient. Jamal works full-time and plays in multiple bands. Ella works part-time while studying. They are young adults just beginning to build their life together — and now they’re facing the heartbreaking reality of starting again from scratch.

We’re hoping to rally around them and help them rebuild their lives. Funds raised will go toward essentials like clothing, temporary accommodation, replacing lost belongings, Replacing the car and helping them get back on their feet.
