This is Gina Beloat. I have a dear friend in Jamaica. .The recent hurricane has left many Jamaicans in a dire situation, struggling to get by without access to electricity. Daily life has become a constant challenge—there’s no way to keep food fresh without refrigeration, and washing machines don’t work, making it hard to maintain even basic hygiene. Once the sun sets, everything is pitch black, and the darkness brings real safety concerns for everyone, especially families with children and the elderly.
Without power, every day is a test of resilience. People are doing their best to adapt, but the lack of resources makes it nearly impossible to meet even the most basic needs. The community is coming together, but the need is overwhelming, and many are at risk of going hungry or being left in unsafe conditions after dark. While resources from the United States and other countries have been sent, they are not reaching those in the more rural areas or the people who need them most. This fundraiser will allow us to directly send food, water filters, and solar-powered supplies to the hardest-hit communities, with the help of friends in the community who will ensure these items end up directly in the hands of those in need.
Your donation will help provide shelf-stable food that doesn’t require refrigeration, water filters to ensure safe drinking water, and solar lights and solar charging packs, bringing much-needed safety and a sense of hope back to those who are still struggling. I know it may seem as though the hurricane is over, but for many Jamaicans, the struggle continues every day. Any support you can give—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this GoFundMe—means the world. Thank you for caring and for helping to make a difference.
