Hi everyone, My name is Sydona Chandon and I am a community advocate in Canada where I’ve worked with many non-profits to bring about change in underserved communities and marginalized people.
As a Jamaican who lives in Canada I have identified the great need that has arisen in my home country; many people have been displaced in Jamaica due to Hurricane, Melissa. There is a lack of food, shelter, electricity and water because of the extensive damage. I am raising funds to help the people of my community in Westmoreland, Jamaica. My mom’s school that she teaches at is also badly damaged and in need of repair alongside many community members and relatives.
This is my hometown and it is so heartbreaking to see the impact of the hurricane on our communities.
As a Jamaican who cares deeply for my country and have been blessed by the people and their hearts to serve others, I am extending this to donors in my network and people who have the desire to help the community build back roofs to have shelter and outsource food and immediate supplies to help them survive throughout these trying times.
I plan to coordinate with trusted locals on site to help hands on in providing food, water, and building materials to those who need it urgently as I journey home this upcoming week.
Every dollar you donate(big or small)will go directly towards helping to restore hope and faith in the lives of people deeply affected by Hurricane, Melissa. Let’s come together to lift each other up during this hard time.
God bless you all.
❤️
Syd
