Help Jalyn Preserve a Family Legacy
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jalyn, and I’m reaching out with urgency, transparency, and hope.
My grandmother’s home — a house filled with love, family, and decades of memories — is being taken from us. The state has placed a Medicaid estate recovery lien on the property due to unpaid nursing home costs for a relative who once lived there. Now, they’re preparing to sell it. We don’t have the funds to stop the process, but we can’t let this house go without a fight.
This isn’t just about a piece of property.
This house is where:
• My grandmother spent her final days in hospice care, surrounded by family
• We gathered for holidays, birthdays, and Sunday dinners
• Generations of love, strength, and legacy were built
For Black families like mine, homeownership is one of the few ways we can build and pass on generational wealth. Losing this home would mean losing not only a sacred space — but the chance to give our children a head start in life.

Here’s What We Need
We are raising what ever we can to:
• Settle the estate recovery lien from the state of Pennsylvania
• Cover legal and title transfer fees
• Create a small cushion to cover any urgent documentation or processing costs
This goal is strictly to save and retain the home. Any repairs will be a separate mission down the line.

How You Can Help
• Donate whatever you can — even $5 brings us closer
• Share this campaign on social media, with churches, community groups, and anyone who believes in protecting Black family legacies
• Comment with any resources, grants, or connections in Pittsburgh that may help us
We deserve to leave something behind for our children — just like other families do.
We’re not asking for pity. We’re asking for a chance to preserve what we already have.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and standing with us.
With love and gratitude,
Jalyn & Family
