My name is Jakob, and my partner and I, as well as our large dog, are currently facing homelessness unless I can either cover the next couple of months of rent, or move into a new home. I have been living with my father since high school, but he is currently declaring bankrupcy. I have not been able to cover the fees required to move since then, despite working full time. My partner and I are both disabled, my partner moreso than me, but I do have a full-time job, though I have been on medical leave for a few months. I am currently recovering from an ACL and ALL repair surgery that I have been attempting to get for several years. Unfortunately, due to medical neglect from both my parents, and doctors, I have only recently had a doctor to take my pain seriously. While on disability for the last few months, my savings have been completely drained, and my current income is not currently enough to cover rent for this month, let alone the next several months, especially with the rising costs of gas, food, and electricity. My partner has been trying to secure a job, but even with a part-time income combined with my disability payments, that may not be enough. That's if they can even secure a job, which is very difficult right now. If I can't cover rent or moving costs, I have no feasible backup plan with my current income. I may not even be able to cover these fees when I return to work, if we don't get kicked out before then. I've been struggling with debt since 2020, and it has finally caught up to me.
