Help Jakob and Family Through This Tough Time

Donation protected
My family is experiencing some unforeseen events and are asking for help. For people that know us, know that we don't like to ask for much or anything at all as we would rather help others.

Our oldest son, Jakob, has been ill for a bit and on Wednesday, November 26th, we took him to the ER. Jakob was having trouble eating, drinking, and keeping anything down for a few days and looked absolutely miserable. The ER nurse and PA rushed to get things figured out because of how dehydrated and all-around ill Jakob was. Within a few hours, they had run multiple tests, including a CT scan. Jakob's bowels were extremely obstructed, and all of the test results were all over the place. He was transported to Seattle Children's Hospital via ambulance; if the weather had been more permitting, he would have been transferred via helicopter.

Once arriving at SCH, the team came up with a plan and worked quickly to get his bowels discompacted. The procedure went very well. Unfortunately, Jakob's kidneys are damaged. His right kidney may never recover and his left is working for now with dialysis. Jakob will need a kidney transplant and will be placed on the list for pediatric, thankfully as he will get a kidney faster, but will need to take place before he turns 18. Jakob has been at SCH since November 26th and was admitted to the PICU until Sunday, November 30th. If we didn't get him to the hospital when we did, we could have lost of son. I am thankful and greatful that our boy is still here. At this time, we have no window of time to know when he will be able to go home. Gastrointerology will be working closely with Jakob this coming week to figure out what condition has caused such severe constipation his whole life and if he will need procedures to fix his bowels, intestines and colon.

I have spent most of the time at the hospital with Jakob until I had to go in for my scheduled spine surgery that took place on December 2nd and Ayron had been bouncing back and forth to help out with everything. I'm doing well, sore and slow, but getting better and off work until after winter break in January. Now that I can move better, I'm back in Seattle to continue to be with Jakob until he gets discharged. We have no time frame to know when that will be, as there are still things with his bladder, intestines, and colon that we have to get figured out now that his kidneys are more stable.

This has taken a financial toll on our family with the expense of gas, food, and keeping up on our bills. We have also put a hold on ordering Jakob's cap and gown and preparation for graduation becasue we don't know what will happen. I hate to ask for help, especially during the holiday season, but we desperately need it and need to be prepared for what Jakob's medical future will look like, along with keeping up with our bills and life. If you are able to help, we would greatly appreciate anything and everything. Prayers, thoughts, and positive vibes are requested as well. Thank you in advance to you all. God bless everyone.

I also have a Cash App account if you would like to donate or help us out in anyway.
