I'm so proud to introduce PARADE COFFEE! I've been working hard on making this a reality for awhile now and with your help I can get this dream off the ground and a cup of coffee in your hand! Donations will help purchase equipment, beans, cups, finalize a rental space and more. Read below for my/PARADE'S journey. Hello friends (and soon-to-be coffee pals),
Imagine we are sharing a small corner table in your favorite café, sipping on hot coffee. There's music softly playing in the background and the espresso machine growls as churns out a perfect brew. There are hisses and bubbles of quiet steam as milk is frothed and you hear the barista and a regular laughing at the counter as the door swishes back open and another customer chassés in from off the busy street to relax in the little café. Oh, I miss that!
This past year has been hard. Truly difficult for so many people! I watched my dance career come to a grinding halt in an instant and quickly saw my whole world turn upside down with no end in site. My dream, for as long as I remember, was dancing. I've had the privilege of making this dream come true for the past 10 years alongside very talented artists all over the world. And now...no more long days in rehearsal, no more crowded theaters or cheering audiences, no more sweaty smiling bows at the end of a long show. I miss it.
Dancing was how I told my story and shared my heart...it was how I built my community. But this past year has given me a new way of looking at this story and a new opportunity to bring communities and people together. Maybe no bowing, a little less sweat. But just has many laughs, hugs, and smiles (with more coffee)!
When I was little I would sit in my Grannie's kitchen for "coffee time" (90% milk and a splash of coffee). When I was on tour dancing I would get together with the cast at a small café in whatever city we were in. And in this past year I have cherished smaller moments with family and friends over a pot of coffee dreaming about better days ahead.
I hope PARADE to be a celebration of all of it: laughing with friends, connecting with family, planning big dreams, and looking forward to those better days ahead. Most importantly PARADE will be a community café for people to come together.
Come by for a little or stay for awhile - I can't wait to pour you a cup of your favorite coffee at PARADE and talk about old memories and create new ones.
