Jake’s life changed in an instant on Saturday, July 18th, when he was bitten by a rattlesnake while hiking the Claremont Wilderness Trail with his mom and two dogs. He had run ahead with one of the dogs and was bitten, but thankfully, a nurse was nearby to help. Jake was airlifted to Pomona Valley Trauma Center, where he received 20 doses of anti-venom. When the hospital’s supply could not support Jake’s needs for more, he was transferred by ambulance to LA County General, where he received 14 additional doses. Jake is currently in the ICU, and while his numbers have started to stabilize, he faces a long road to recovery.

Jake recently committed to play baseball at the collegiate level and start grad school this coming fall. He was working double shifts to pay his tuition and will now have a loss of wages for at least the next few weeks. If we can help relieve some of this stress to allow him to focus on his healing and recovery I know he would greatly appreciate it.
