Help Jake Pay for Surgery & the Hospital Stay
Hi, my name is Kim Newcomb. My son Jake, who is 18 years old, broke his femur bone in his left leg last Saturday night. He was playing with his dog and somehow got tripped up. He fell and landed on a railroad tie. His femur bone broke in two pieces. So, Jake was transported via ambulance to the hospital in Concord, NC.
After X-rays, it was determined that he needed surgery. Jake was transported via ambulance to Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. The next afternoon, surgery was performed to have a titanium rod put in his thigh.
Jake is having to go through physical therapy to learn how to walk on that leg again. He has been in the hospital for 4 nights. There's a good chance he might be able to go home tomorrow, but he has a way to go before he will walk normally again. The doctors are hoping in 4-6 weeks.
Jake will be out of work so he can recover and doesn't have medical insurance right now. He started a new job about 2 months ago and has not reached 90 days for benefits yet. We are trying to get all the financial help we can for him. As you know, his medical bills will be outrageous. If you or someone you know, would like to donate to help Jake, please do so. No amount is too small. He will greatly appreciate it and so will we.
