I've been dealing with debt for almost a decade and a half, and with recent changes in the economy, I am struggling to survive.

In March of 2013, my home was burned down by my (at the time) stepfather. He and my mother had a horribly toxic relationship, and he planned behind our backs to kick us out by staging this and having it look like an accident. He had over a decade of experience as a police officer and knew how to make it seem like it wasn't his doing. The home was in his name, so ultimately there was no point in raising funds to take him to court.

My mother and I spent a quarter of that year homeless. We both racked up a large amount of debt trying to survive as neither of us could work at the time. I've been slowly chipping away at what was once a $12,000 debt and have it down to half.

I can no longer afford to pay my bills every month without reaching out for help via Bluesky. Between my car breaking down last month, and needing to get my tooth fixed, it's impossible to not stay out of the red. I'm very tired of this debt suffocating me. I've decided to set up a GoFundMe to help put aside any funds to kill this debt once and for all.
